Dental implant placement is a surgical procedure performed by a dentist or dental surgeon. The procedure is usually performed in several stages and involves placing titanium implants into the jawbone. Here are the general steps of dental implant application:

    Evaluation and Planning:

First, the dentist or dental surgeon evaluates the patient’s mouth structure, jawbone condition and general health condition. If deemed necessary, imaging techniques such as x-ray images or computed tomography (CT) scans may be used. This evaluation process is important for correct positioning of implants and determining the treatment plan.

    Implant Placement:

A surgical procedure is performed to place the implant. In this procedure, which is usually performed under local anesthesia, a small incision is made on the jawbone where implants will be placed. The implants are then placed in a suitable position and screwed into the jawbone. Implants are usually made of titanium and fuse with the jawbone, creating a strong bond.

    Healing Process:

A healing process is required for the implants to fuse with the jawbone. This process can usually take several months and ensures that the implants are firmly attached to the bone. During the healing process, a temporary dental prosthesis may be used or the implant site may be left open, depending on the complexity of the treatment and the patient’s needs.

    Abutment Placement:

After the implants heal and fuse with the jawbone, a connection piece called an abutment is placed on top of the implants. Abutment is used to connect dental prosthesis (crown, bridge or overdenture) to implants.

    Prosthesis Application:

In the final stage, the dentist or dental technician prepares a prosthesis suitable for the patient’s mouth. This denture is fixed or bonded to implants and looks and functions similarly to natural teeth.

Dental implant application must be carefully planned and performed by a specialist dentist or dental surgeon. Hygiene and sterilization standards must be strictly adhered to during the procedure and the patient must be ensured to follow correct care instructions throughout the treatment process.
